Karnataka’s Minister of Large and Medium Industries Murugesh Nirani said Tuesday that his Twitter account was hacked from a foreign location.

“My Twitter handle @NiraniMurugesh was hacked from an unknown location today. We do not know the exact origin and identity of the perpetrator, ”he said in a statement. He urged people not to fall victim to fraudulent messages from hackers and to ignore derogatory and unparliamentary messages on his account. “We have filed a complaint on Twitter and will soon be joining the cyber-cell police in Bengaluru,” said the minister.

He added that he is making an effort to restore the Twitter account.

The minister also said his Facebook account was recently hacked and money was requested.
